EXPRESS YOURSELF.

An evening of Spoken Word

Hosted by Ella-May Hooper this evening of Spoken Word is a combination of booked poets and an open mic section.

NEXT SHOW: 15th November

Ella-May Hooper is the creator and host of ‘Express Yourself’ and could not be more excited at how the event is growing! Ella-May is a proud Mancunian and feminist. She first discovered poetry and started writing it, after sitting in a festival tent for hours listening to spoken word artists share their inspirational work. She didn’t share it for several years but then realised it was the perfect way to communicate her opinions about the world. ‘Express Yourself’ is a chance to share ideas, be creative and inspire.

Kat Head

A scribbler of all sorts, sandwiching soliloquies and sounds from the soul together in a conversational, stand-up feel, Kat fell into poetry through theatre and then tumbled into Hip Hop soon afterwards. It was the connection of the rhyme and the stories that got her - from rap battles with her siblings in their make shift garden studio to stepping up to freestyle at some of Brighton's best loved Rap nights, Kat just had to reach out through a mic and connect words. She gives her rhymes a bit of company with a guitar and usually a bit of audience participation to accelerate the stories she tells.

He’s the host of Boomerang Club, one of London’s warmest and most well-loved poetry nights, which enjoyed a popular full run at Edinburgh.
