SHOWCASE ADVANCED INTENSIVE

This course is structured for the more experienced player. To join this course you should have completed either The Performance Course, The Advanced Course or the equivalent. If  unsure of suitability email contact@londonimprovtheatre.com

 

Four 2 hour sessions addressing the pillars of Improvisation. Sessions lead to the end of course showcase which takes place at The London Improv Theatre using stage and lights with cabaret seating/private bar. You will be performing to an audience invited by the participants including friends & family.

 

Course Elements

Creating and playing characters

  • How to create believable and engaging characters. 

  • Status, perspective (point of view), emotional connection

Space Work

  • create a world for your character to inhabit.  

  • object interaction: space, weight and tension

  • space work with other actors. sharing objects and alignment

Story telling

  • building a base 

  • raising the stakes

  • find an ending 

Open Class 

  • Playing extras (add to a scene, but don't take over)

  • Show prep - Open class with scenes and games

 

Course Teacher – Jason Moran

A founding member of the theatre team, Jason trained with The Gaiety School of Acting and the Dublin School of Acting, and has worked with a range of Dublin based theatre companies. With extensive experience in comedy improvisation, he now regularly runs Improv training courses and workshops. Jason is a permanent cast member of LiveWired Comedy Improvisation, the long running hit show.

 

SHOWCASE: The participants of the course are offered the opportunity to perform in the end of course show on the last Saturday evening - hosted by Jason, this is always the highlight of the course.
